Flowers

I can't even begin to tell you how many butterflies and bees love the liatris!  I have been able to capture so many good shots of bees and butterflies because of this lovely lavender flower.

There is a veritable wall of these separating the drive from the backyard and it seems to be a beacon for all the bees and butterflies around.  Sometimes it is almost like the liatris is alive because there are so many hovering around it.

One of my very favorite flowers is the Nanuq daylily in the picture below.  It is simply gorgeous!  The morning sun was streaming from behind as I took this shot.

There is just something so beautiful about a daylily.  There are so many varieties, sizes, and shapes but all are so incredible.  Each morning I am greeted by new beautiful blooms!

The 'Callie Pink with Eye Calibrachoa' with the deepest purple almost black colored 'Surprise Midnight Cowboy Petunia' is a striking combination.  To make things even more interesting,'Lanai Bright Eye Verbena' is planted with them.  These are planted in my two pots at the entrance to the garden.  They are gorgeous!

Summer of 2014 -   If you have been following my blog, you will remember that a couple of weeks ago, I started a free photography course on Craftsy.com.  These pictures are my attempts at capturing the beauty of flowers.

The day lilies above are called "Nanuq".  I love this picture!  The two flowers were growing perfectly for me to capture this shot.  I could not have placed them this perfectly if I had tried!

There is only one butterfly bush in my garden now.  We had a severe winter a couple of years ago and my "Black Knight" butterfly bushes bit the dust.  I don't know how, but some lighter colored lavender bushes came up free will.

I haven't replaced the Black Knights, although I did love the color of them.

This "Love", hybrid tea rose was given to me by my oldest daughter, Danielle, on Mother's Day.  The red and white are in striking contrast and make a beautiful rose blossom.

Check out this little bee focused on this balloon flower!  These flowers are so precious!  I love the blue color.  This is another plant I want to add to my garden.  The bee can come along, too!

The Shasta Daisy above is such a unique flower.  This one was at the garden center.  I am trying to figure out if I have a perfect place for it...or the Black Eyed Susan below.  There is just not enough room for everything!

I always have "Wave" petunias in my pots on the front step, on the deck and on the patio.  They just bloom continually and are so carefree.  I like the white ones because they show up even in the dark, but sometimes I have pink or fuschia colored.

This is one of my favorite daylilies.  It is called "Revolution".  I love the     deep red burgundy color of it.  Isn't it just strikingly beautiful?

White Rose, Flower, Rose garden

These white roses are on a climbing rose.  I have two, which flank the arbor at the entrance to our backyard.  There is black platinum mulch underneath them.  When I took this shot, the morning sun was beaming down and the creamy white on the black mulch gave this beautiful effect.

This little bee is on a "Rainbow" Knockout Rose.  This rose was at the Showplace Garden Center in Hebron.  I had planned to buy one in the summer of 2014, but time got away.  This next year in 2015, I will add one to my garden.  I love it!

This Dwarf Bleeding Heart 'Snowdrift' is planted next to the path from the drive to the back deck.  It only grows 12" tall and does well with part sun and part shade.  It flowers from May thru September.
